The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine supersonic fighter designed for both the U.S. Navy and Air Force. Introduced in the 1960s, it was one of the most versatile and widely used fighters of the Cold War era. With high speed, heavy payload capacity, and long range, the F-4 served in roles ranging from air superiority and ground attack to reconnaissance and fleet defense. It was exported to several allied nations and continued flying in combat roles into the 21st century.
